Het is al zo lang wachten tot de wedstrijden.
Het regent alleen maar in het weekend en ik wil slalommen!

Dus je plannen lezen is een goed alternatief

Man that is English!! :-)

Hi Don, seriously now. All that I am saying is that the plan I am writing for the sponsors is almost ready and that the city of Amsterdam will also be much more involved this year.

fresh from the oven:
I am also working to have a camping site on the race site and breakfast for all competitors that stay at the camping site. Showers and sanitary facilities will also be available.

so we are getting there........

TOT ZIENS!!! :-)

We are most probably going for the first weekend in August. I will be in Portugal during the month of July, so when I came back from my holidays I will be ready for the ASSWC2008.

I hope to see everybody here.
Silvio, good to hear from you. Are you already skating in Munich? Good luck there!!!

I propose July 26/27th so one week end BEFORE the Worlds. I am going to Portugal on June 30th, I will be back on July the 21st, then I still have one week off to get the contest going.

So:

July 26th/27th Amsterdam

Argh, I don't mean this date is a problem but for the following :
it's really not easy for people working (so most of us I think except students) when events are all packed in the same period.
One of the status attribution point is avoid to concentrate events in the same period.

Hi Vinz,
I see your point, but all events are on the weekends, so maybe you get a little bit tired on Monday but it is still something I think most of us can deal with.

The way I see it having these contests held on these dates would help the skaters that come from far away ( USA and South America). This way they can travel to Europe and spend a few weeks, rather then travelling back and forth.

there a many pro and cons for putting it one week before the worlds, but it only concerns you when you are a smoker, luckily, there is not one single smoker I know in this slalom scene....hehe... UHhhhhuuu hhuu rrrUUHHuhhhh!!!!......oh well.

This is only true for place that you can reach easily, Paris-Amsterdam = no problem to be back on Sunday night , like most of the big cities.
So yeah Flavio, this comment is not really accurate for Amsterdam, at least for us.
Not the same when it's somewhere less easy to go ad it was an occasion to remind everybody that our contests should also think about Euro competitors! (despite the fact that we are very happy to see racers coming from far away off course).

uuuuhhhhh
i am very likely to be in gothenburg 1 week before the contest.
also i believe that the crowding of contests doesn't do the situation any good.
i do a back to back contest with gothenburg for a reason.
now we have the amsterdam/gotheburg cons back to back
i know that the czech guys are likely to go back to back with brixlegg too.

that's too much

no other solutions here?

The only other solution would be to hold the contest in the end of June. But I do think that then noboby from Brazil or the States would be able to attend. There is no sense in travelling to Europe in June and then coming back in August. The ccity of Amsterdam does want to see as many international skaters as possible.

Right now I have been contacted by a jornalist in Brazil that wants to come to A'dam for the ccontest and I also advissed her to go to Sweden and there are a few riders coming too. What I could do though would be to combine Amsterdam and Paris (when is Paris happeening?) and have the Brazilians taking part in both contests. It is just too expensive for Brazilians to travel to Europe for just one contest.

If you event is not a Main, it's not really important and we should talk about that in another topic.
It's not so bad to have a prime before the Worlds and A'dam is well deserved with flights and trains for most of europeans.

3 events in a row with one big highlight is ok, but after it's a bit too much. Main events have to be spread in time a little bit more.

FYI: Paris is earlier this year: from the 10th to the 12th of May (and you can come and enjoy our festival from the 8th, so expect fun events before the 10th).

Many thanks to the city of Amsterdam.

I just got an email from Dominik, I am sorry but I will have to change the date again.

Hey guys,

Good luck with organizing the event, sorry for being such a wanker and not helping you much, if any. I am certainly taking part in it, and will probably bring a beginner with me, so the word is spreading! =)

Since plenty of folks are coming to the event - do you think it is possible to ask them take some sport stuff for sale with them? E.g. I'd happily buy a set of weels, bearings and a Pavel deck, maybe some trucks as well (need to check my account status ;) ). Flavio, what do you think would be the best way to do it? Contact Don or some folks from Cologne directly?

Best regards, keep it pumping,
Vlad
