Updates

Post by Maria Carrasco » Wed Jun 04, 2008 2:52 pm

Hey guys -- Just checking in as we close in on race #1 this Sunday.

Schwag from our generous sponsors has been rolling in so we will have some nice prizes for the open class. Big props go out to these sponsors who are lending their support to this series so far:

SK8KINGS (of course!)
PPS (Thanks Chicken!)
LCB (Thanks Lynn!)
Khiro (Thanks Bob & LouAnn!)
Oust (Thanks Carl!)
Randal (Thanks Michael!)
Sk8Trip (Thanks Chris!)
Skaterbuilt (Thanks Dave!)
Silverfish (Thanks Eric & Kai!)
NCDSA (Thanks Adam!)
Concrete Wave Mag (Thanks Michael!)
Big Thanks also to friends and family who have offered to help out!

Couple of notes --
Remember this is an outlaw event and we need to keep things on the down low as much as possible. So please be respectful with the local residents in the area, people who also use the access road for cycling, walking their dog, etc., and of course any law enforecment or security people you may come in contact with. The roads are NOT closed for our use so we need to share and be cool with it. That will give us the best possible chance of pulling things off without a hitch. There have been many successful outlaw events at both venues in the recent years so if everyone cooperates, that track record should continue. Worse case -- we have a back up venue if we get shut down.

Each race in the series will have ISSA "Basic" status points tallied for Pro & Open racers.

If you are planning to come out and race, make sure you sign up on line (follow the link on the flyer) so you will receive directions to the venue via e-mail. Please bring cash to pay your entry fee on site. On race day -- I will have our office line forward to my cell so if you are lost or something send out an S.O.S. SK8KINGS Hotline -- 714-636-7308

Weather forecast looks great so far. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and sunscreen too.

Sooooooo -- let the fun begin!

See ya on the hill!

Post by Maria Carrasco » Sun Jun 08, 2008 4:19 pm

Looking forwrd to seeing everyone on the hill today. The e-mail with directions, etc. should have been received by everyone who signed up by now. Remember the hotline number if you have problems.

Jack Smith is arranging live updates from the race site today. For info on how to connect to that -- check out his post under Random Slalom Topics on this forum.

Will have some of the new Maximus decks on hand, shirts, hats and other board tuning goodies for cash sale in case. Make sure to get there by 11:00 and see me right away if you want to check things out.

Maria,

Any reason why the October 26 Pump Station race is on a Sunday?

The odds right now are less than stellar I can fly anywhere this year but it's looking like if I do the PS race on October 26 will be it. I just noticed it's the only one of the series not on Saturday.

Date Change for series finale!

Post by Maria Carrasco » Wed Aug 27, 2008 9:38 pm

Hi Wesley -- I've heard from you and Marty Schaub too on this. We are stoked to try to accomodate you out-of-towners willing to travel so far to come sooooooooo --

Please Note: The date on the series finale (Race #4) has been changed.
The 4th and final race of the OUtlaw GS Series will now be held on Saturday October 25, 2008
(changed from Sunday, Oct. 26).

This is the same weekend as previously announced just moved to Saturday.
We originally scheduled the last race (like the first race) on a Sunday to avoid conflicts with the LCB and the Downhill Diva calendar. Big Thanks to Lynn Kramer and the rest of the Downhill Divas for being so flexible.

Time for Series Race #3 -- JPL Pasadena -- THIS Saturday Oct. 4.

Note -- we are moving the start time of Saturday's race up one hour. So that means warm-up time at 10:00 and racing at 11:00 a.m.

We're trying to get finished as soon as possible so we can clear the hill. There is a possibility of car traffic AND it is usually very HOT.

Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Weather reports are still too premature to be reliable.

Welcome out of towners -- Chris Favero, Keith Hollien & Wentzle Ruml. See ya soon!

This is actually a double header racing weekend in So Cal with the Friday Night Massacre hosted by Steve Collins the night before JPL. Check out SK8KINGS.COM for all the details on both events.

Cheers!
