Sandrine and I would like to thank you all for making possible this 3 weeks of slalom racing across Europe.

It was nice to see all of you again, and it was a real pleasure to meet George, Cat, Skip and all racers we did not see before in Europe.
We are already planning our US trip for next year :D

Thank you Flavio, Dutch & GOG crew for Amsterdam Euros!
Maybe everything was not what we can expect for a main slalom event, but races were fair and competitive (even with timing system issues) and we had fun. We hope to come again next year.

Thank all the Czech guys too. Policka is also a place we want to come back in 2009.
You guys were really friendly and organisation was perfect.
Maybe you just need another race place for the special slalom (eg giant place, with parallel races)

And last but not least thanks to the Gothenburg crew for holding the Worlds : for sure one of the biggest competiton ever. You deal with rain issues and make everything happen.
Just a thought : 80 euros is pretty expensive for racers when there is no meal in the package.

Another general thought : women category should always be consider as PRO. We can't ask for more ladys to come racing, when this is often this category wich suffer from schedule & timing issues. It must always be Women finals, even for 2 or 4 racers ! it take only few minuts.

Hope to see most of you in Grenoble

Guillaume & Sandrine

As far as I know it was broadcasted. The reporter told us that up to 200 million (Chinese) would watch it.

Is it just a coincidence that Mika Hadestrand was in the picture at the same time they said that you have to physically fit to do slalomskateboarding? :-)

Nice report though, was it broadcasted or is it just a internet station?

Pretty cool that we were racing and partying in CZ and NY at the same time. Maybe next year I can "Phil Collins" it and hit both contests up :-)

I'm glad things are happening in CZ, I actually tried to find Stefka on a visit to CZ after Paris 04. Sadly he had not surfaced yet. I look forward to returning for a race.

Side question, how were the ramps?

THANX

Post by Emrik Larsson » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:35 am

Thanx for a fun and well organised contest.
Even though I skated quite poorly, I had a good time in Policka.
For future competitions I wish that you would have the courses downhill, and skip the flat-races!

peace and skate on..

Transit

Post by Sam Gordon » Fri Aug 08, 2008 5:42 pm

I've just received a text from Louis Selby to say that he is in travelling down from Berlin and will not be able to make the shuttle at Prague and so will head to Policka by train. He should arrive much later this evening. Please delete him from the shuttle list.

If anyone else reads this, and is taking the shuttle, then please pass on the above information so that no-one is kept waiting.

If Tomas P or Patrik reads this, then just to keep you updated I'm at Gatwick airport departure waiting for Paul Price to arrive. We are currently on schedule and looking forward to seeing you in Prague!

Thankyou,

Sam

ACCOMMODATION IN POLICKA

we confirm accommodation for all who applied here. Guillaume 2x, Skip 2x, Mika 6x, Louis with Pelle, Sam with Paul. And there is still one place left in Ramon's room.

There is no problem to find accommodation in pension in Policka for the other competitors.

There are still free places in the shuttle.

Accommodation and shuttle

Post by Sam Gordon » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:56 pm

Dammit if Louis is in and Pelle is in, then I'm in.

Please book Sam Gordon and the ubiquitous Paul Price for accommodation on Friday the 8th and Saturday 9th August. And book us on the shuttle too.

We're looking into the posibility of hiring a car because of a return flight on the Sunday, so the shuttle request might change. As might the request for accommodation on Friday if we decide to take in a 'show' that evening. But that's all talk. Let's stick with the original booking for the moment.

Thankyou,

Sam

ACCOMODATION IN POLICKA

We have booked the hotel for the participants in the square in Policka, the direct destination of Special Slalom. There are about 14 places in double rooms.

The price for 1 person is 15 EUR per 1 night. Please book the places here, at the forum.

Accommodation in Policka is no problem. You can book it once you're there. The shuttle should leave from the airport. Last year it worked flawlessly. Apart from not checking the forum very often, the organisation is very guest friendly.

same situation for us : never been in Policka before... we will arrive from Gothenburg, spend a few days in Prague, and try to take this mysterious shuttle to policka.

We are also looking for accomodation in Policka!

Then back to Pragues on monday (shuttle again) to take a flight to Paris and drive to Amsterdam.

:D

Merci Guillaume,

I appreciate the advice. That would explain a lot.

We are coming. We have tix and a room in Prague. No turning back now.

We haven't made arrangements in Policka yet either. I am still hoping for some insight from racers that have been there before. I can't wait to see this beautiful country!

Are you going to Amsterdam this year? Have you been there to race before?

Thanx for your response

Confused?

Post by Skip Marcotte » Wed Jul 09, 2008 10:51 pm

Is there another forum where this race is discussed? It doesn't appear that anyone involved with this event is answering any questions. The only response I've seen here is from Ramon.

Is it still going to happen? Should we make other plans?

I'm confused...
