I'll just cut and past from my answer on NCDSA which I think covers pretty much exactly what you asked.

The grooves are really not that technically advanced, it is a reinforced area around the truck with a hard but durable material so hopefully it will last at least a few seasons of racing. I have never been one of those who tightens the truck screws through the board and still have never had problems with a loose truck so I don't think there is a need for any interlocking. If you think it will slide I suggest that you use a thin rubber riser pad closest to the board.

Most racers today uses a toe stopper making 2, 3 or all 4 screws being in the stopper and never actually wearing the board.

When talking to boardmakers at the worlds it seemed just like minutes before others would release their similar models. We'll see about that.

(the reinforcement is of course the reason old boards cannot be converted, since it would severly reduce the lifetime of the board)

I've been wanting to ask you something: are those grooves reinforced?

Or are they "just" glas, fiber and foam along the length of the slot? And if so how resistant is the board to crushing by the mounting hardware?

just a joke marcus, i'm happy with my board and i wouldn't it give away for a new one. I gave it one time to manuel to test it and get back a board with a front like a emmenthaler cheese... the wight is now bit lower than before...

No, there is a different core inside of the infinity boards so it would be a pretty extensive job to change a normal/old version.

But you probably like Swiss cheese so its not a big deal I guess
