I'm hoping Goad's comment of "your in the know" means he's talked to you and given you the low-down. If not, I can give you my two cents' worth. Public transpo in STL is OK, depending on where you are and how far you have to go. Where will you be staying? (what part of town) and where will you be needing to go?

I've no details yet, but sometime in June I'll be in St. Louis for a trip for my masters program. It looks like we'll be given lots of free time to explore the town independently so I'll be sure to bring my boards. ANYWAY, I'm considering taking Amtrak into town instead of driving. Before I make that decision, however, I should know: what's the public transit system like in town? Easy to use? Easy to get around town? Worth using? etc. etc. etc.
