Virage Ordering information

Post by Michael Stride » Mon Feb 16, 2009 5:48 pm

The Virage Trucks microsite is up and running, for order and questions relating to the Virage truck. The rear is now for sale. Form an orderly queue:

Great site, Michael. Very clearly explains the product in a way I wasn't understanding from previous discussions on here. All websites should be this succinct!

Stridely,

My currency converter

http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/currency

tells me that 87 pounds is $123.93.

Does that sound about right to you?

What he said.

And I'm betting the shiny orange thing you can glimpse in the last couple of photos will be very interesting, too!

If you use this popular currency converter:

http://www.xe.com/

Then this fine product comes in at the even more reasonable $123.78

But with every Virage pre-order the UK economy improves and the Pound gets stronger!

10 USD shipping
7 USD Venom bushings
----------------------
168 USD, still a very reasonable price

By sourcing your own axles, either hardware store for cheapo versions or even a friendly machine shop you can shave a few dollars. I couldnt match the Radikal axle prices and thats down to material costs to a great extent.

ANY machine shop should be able to make axles to fit as its essentially a hex bar cut down. Source some LH Nuts and wheyyyy heyyyyyyy!!!!

Whilst Im MORE than happy to supply axles from here, I know many Americans have home workshops and lathes, so that bit is within the realms of hobbiests. Its not the kind of thing you find in the UK so much, hence why I have gone for super dooper LH/RH threaded and nutted ones.

I guess the way to look at it look at our axles, and then work out time/gas/hassle on your side to get the same thing.

The dollar and pound/euro are very volitile at the moment....for us Brits, American and European trucks are very expensive at the moment, so these have come out at precisely the right time for us...

The first batch is nearly sold out now, and I need to confirm numbers on Tuesday 24th if I want to add a few more. Let me know if you intend ordering. As these fit in around other stuff at the machine shop I cant say wehn the second batch will be done.

Just added the price for the modified standard bolts on to the website http://www.viragetrucks.com.

these are 100 or 90mm socket bolts with a smooth axle under the head of the nut. We cut these down to 60mm length so that they mimic closely the precision axles. Measuring them they are more accurate (closer to 8mm ) than an imperial axle) but ever so slightly less accurate than the precsin milled ones. Ive also tested them without an outer speed ring and they work really well, bolting up nice and tight. They do not have the lh/rh threads but they have approx 5mm thread showing past the nut for peace of mind.

These cost £7 ($10, or 8 Euros approx) a pair.

The shaft of on picture below is actually an uncut bolt, we have managed to get the smooth shaft to almost the same length as the custom milled ones. They make an excellent choice, so long as you remember your allen key!

Due to customer requests I have added the option to buy extra spare nuts for both types of axles.

Also, a t shirt will be ready soon. Just like Independent, I will probably make way more money selling clothes than trucks.

After reading the age of some of your posts on these trucks I come to the conclusion that I REALLY NEED TO GET OUT MORE!

WAY TO GO!

They really look good and I look forward to trying some out. As soon as I fiugre out the retail end of the skatepark here I'll be talking to you about getting sets for re-sale out of the shop.

Good Luck and keep it up...... Not you Sam........)

The revised website, with ordering information for the new batches of front Virages, and the batch of Rears will be up and running Midday UK time Tomorrow, (Tuesday).

We have had EXCELLENT responses from the early adopters, 'grip' seems to be a common theme. The Long Distance guys in Seattle have ridden them a bit now, great to see them working on long runs, and that they are proving to be tough too.

We have trucks in Europe, the States and Australia being ridden, and that's a wonderful feeling.

Can't wait to see more riders on them. Can't wait for the race season.

We now have in stock 1 rear Virage and 1 'prototype' rear, along with the set of Grey anodised front and rear trucks. We are taking these to a race over the Easter Weekend to 'show and tell' but if they are unsold after Sunday we will sell them to the first person that enquires by email beforehand. The prototype rear has a super smooth surface, with no engraving, and the kingpin has been JB Welded (ultra strong glue) in place rather than the production version machine press fit. Other than that it is identical to production versions. Price...? Willing to negotiate! All trucks can be ordered with Machined or regular bolt axles.

We are currently machining g a run of wide hanger LDP / GS trucks and longer axles for Slalom versions to allow for racers to have a GS set up ready. A new run of Slalom ones is due for delivery End of April early May.

Shouldn't the prototype be saved and donated to the British Museum?

We currently have 2 sets of LDP trucks unspoken for, and pushed forward our new run of slalom trucks due to demand, and have 2 sets of those ready to ship on Monday 27th.

We will have trucks at the Zurich race for testing and purchasing.

You can buy either fronts or rears. Or both!

We now aim to keep limited quantities in stock at all times, now that we know what kind of demand there is.

ALL trucks, Slalom and L.D.Ps are SOLD.

We will announce on Monday 3rd May the new dates for production, and also a revised pricing structure to allow for deposits.

The trucks are proving to be very popular, Id love to have boxes of them ready to ship, but these are by their very nature costly to produce, and take time to assemble. Judging just how many we should make at a time can only come from experience.

We are just gearing up to do the next run of Virage Slaloms and the Virage LDPs. (Long Distance Pumping).

So far we have Virages all over Europe and the US and OZ. The LDPs are flying off the site, which is great news. We have brought in a new ordering system so you can guarantee your place in the run.
