Here is the new Pavel GS Roadster, 35 inches of speed, for when you feel like you need a few extra inches to really satisfy that wide open course.

Coming to a Giant slalom race near you soon!
cheers,
Paul

Congratulations to Ella for her 2nd place at the World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding at Hood River, Oregon riding her Roadster!

I got a 5th place in the Pro Slalom Tight on my wide-tail Roadster which was fantastic.

When I had the idea for a new slalom board in 2002 I wanted it to be inspired by a car shape rather than the surfboard shaped boards around at the time.
I called it the roadster because that was the type of board I wanted, a light, fast, fun board to ride like a convertible roadster car.
A major part of it was to have the flared wheel arches (concave) and wide tail so as to put the power down in pumping tight courses.
The roadster badge was added to the board to make it more car-like, like the silver badge on the rear of most cars. The Union Jack and chequered flag badge is from the MG.
The 350Z badge looked cool and matched my ride at the time.
The latest boards have the GT-R badge to reference the latest super car.
Check the earlier posts in this thread to see the evolution of the design.
The latest boards have a wider tail to make the board more versatile.
Try one and enjoy the ride. Cheers! Paul

http://fwd.five.tv/videos/top-5-skateboards
1st Loaded Dervish Longboard
2nd Pavel Roadster Slalom Board
3rd Lush Kilima Longboard

Thanks to Rob for joining me on the Gadget show testing team.
Trying out all the boards was fun.
The Roadster was versatile, as we rode vert
on it as well as being fastest thru the cones
Having some slalom on prime time TV may get some people skating!
Here is the link on the Gadget show, almost a 3 minute segment

Gadget show Board Test Monday 7pm
On Monday the Gadget show on channel 5 will be testing 15 skateboards and ranking the top 5.

Jason the presenter rides giving it some:

Will a slalom board do well in the testing?
We rode the Pavel Roadster, in slalom and in the halfpipe, thanks to the kick-tail.

Watch it and see!
The original board was stolen and is still at large.
Donald sent over a replacement for further testing double quick.

I'll try to get a link to the show: http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/next

Stolen Roadster
Last week there was a TV show recording for a weekly prime time show called "The Gadget show".
http://gadgetshow.five.tv/index.htm
It was filmed at Bay66 skatepark, London.
They tested the Pavel Roadster amongst 15 skateboards (including long-boards, snakeboards, electric boards etc) to find the top five skateboards.
How did it do against the competition? You will have to wait until October when it goes to air on National TV.
In the mean time keep a look out for my kuro black Roadster (350z logo) with silver GOG trucks and Blue Hotspots.
It was stolen from the stack of 15 different boards.
Obviously the most desirable board to the street urchins.
BUT I WANT IT BACK!
Here is the board with the presenter Jason, just before it went AWOL:

Keep 'em peeled (and put the word out) - thanks, Paul

Thanks Spike!
The new wide-tail concept for the Roadster really seems to work well with increased power.
I took a 3rd in the Hybrid and a 4th in the Tight at the US Nationals at Morro Bay.

Thanks to Don and the Pavel crew for setting up the Gog race. I was very pleased to be on the podium again in the Pro Special and Pro tight races. The level of racing is insane and you need be 100% to be in with a chance.

I got to pick up the new evolution design wide- tail Pavel 'Paul Price Model' Roadster GT-R.
Look for it coming to a race near you soon!
Also Bish asked about the new Roadster GT-R, I will continue testing it and give feed back to the team at Pavel who will incorporate my suggestions so that the board will be ready for sale by the summer! At the moment it feels pretty good, and the wider tail does help in some courses.

Board set up
Hi Toby,
Hope you are enjoying the deck, the set up is easy, wedge the trucks as normal (extra at the front, de-wedge at the rear, keep the board level at the centre and use enough risers so you don't get wheel bite!
The front truck can be moved back for those really tight courses, as in this photo taken at the 16 Juni 2007 Goteborg race:

I am really looking forward to racing in 2008, travelling and meeting up with friends old and new! See you at the races, Cheers, Paul

Eddy, I am really glad you like the board! It does seem to work and at a race in London last month I counted over 8 people carving up the course on Roadsters.
Check out the photos and video: http://www.ukslalomskateboarding.com/
It just makes sense to have concave and a wide tail under your feet. Seems like a lot of other boards designs are following the trend. I hope to get over to World Championships this year as well as a load of European races. 2007 looks like being a good year.
Donald from Pavel built me a new board last week, its in Kuro black and the quality and finish of his work gets better and better. They are all handmade and seem to come alive near cones!

Ok dudes I ran the Roadster through a tight tech course tonite. Fxxk the board Freaking Rocks. I had shaved Avalons, but will be shaving some Hot Spots soon. And my Radikals. Quick synopsis. It lives up to its name, it is quick, goes back to center very fast, agile, enough room for my size 12 feet. I left the course with a smile. Nice design Paul. Great work Don. I can not wait to ride it again. Unfortunately it started to drizzle. What can I say I am STOKED!!!!! Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

I love my Roadster...Don drilled mine further back for the rear truck and it is simply awesome. So much power, control and quickness compared to anything else I have ridden.
Now I just cant wait till my custom GOG with a kicktail arrives...
but then Ill have to order another Pavel!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy new year Paul
Eddy, you'll probably also like the Gunner, the tail is quite similar, but the board is longer so it's perfect for hybrid and work great for giant.

I really like Paul's roadster. He let me ride one of his own board in Latvia and Sweden in 2006 as I brought only one slalom board.Eddy Martinez wrote:Paul the board has a killer design. Once again I had to add a Gunner to the collection. Why because you said to look at the new pimped up website. Sneeky mate, sneeky. I know the Pavel GS, The Roadster and the Gunner will all perform well in 2007. Here is hoping me knees will hold up. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Hi Eddy, Thanks for the generous words.
I hope you like the board and have a chance to ride at Christmas.
All the Airports in London have been closed the last few days due to heavy fog. Travel chaos!
I hope to see you at some of the races in the US next year
Cheers, Paul
p.s. looks like the PAVEL site has been pimped: http://www.pavel-skates.com/

On the way back to London I stopped at Valdez Helicamps , http://www.valdezhelicamps.com/
in Valdez, Alaska for the most intense snowboarding of my life. Being dropped by helicopter on the steepest terrain rideable was fully scary and totally fun at the same time.

My flight to England was delayed by weather so I took the chance to see Martin Drayton in Utah for some more mid April boarding:

Then back in London we had rain for our Wasteland race, but it stayed dry for the European events - A 4th in Paris was a great result for me. Then some more fun was had in contests in Hannover, Grunigen and Riga. Sam Gordon was travelling with me and has got faster since he is now on Pavel boards.

Managed to get in a quick weekend of surfing in Newquay and one of summer snowboarding on the glacier of Les 2 Alpes in France.

Thanks to Donald for advancing the construction and finish of the Roadster deck, at one of our Thursday night slalom sessions at Hyde Park in central London we had no less than seven skaters riding the Roadster boards!! Everyone who rides one seems to like the concave and width at the tail.

Heres a pic with us outside the Queens Arms pub, with Kate our barmaid doing a Daisy from the "Dukes of Hazzard". That's the Roadster sports car - the inspiration in the design of the Roadster skateboard back in 2002. Also in the photo are Scott and Adrian, new to slalom racing but getting faster every time they skate on their Roadsters

Looking forward to seeing everyone at The World Championships at Brixlegg,
This year the British team is the biggest of all the nationalities competing!

Gary,
The latest Roadster dimensions are:
Length: 30 1/4"
Width: 9" front and 9" rear
Waist: 8 1/4"
Concave: 1 1/4 ", flat centre section
Wheelbase, two standard settings:
inside truck bolts 18 1/2" (47cm) for tight slalom
There are extra holes drilled at the nose to give 19 3/4" (50cm) for bigger courses.
Of course you can drill more holes in the front to customise your wheel base. The front
has a big enough area to make setting the front truck distance easier to cater for varying
courses.
I was travelling to a lot of races this summer and had only a 15 kilo luggage allowance
with the cheap airlines. So I took the one Roadster and was able to move the front truck
for tight and giant courses.
The board has a slight camber and flex, but overall the chassis is stiff with concave under
the feet to better transfer power from the rider's legs and feet into instant turn response.
You will need wedged riser pads under the tail to get the correct balance between the
front rear truck height. Most pros find a wedged front and negatively wedged rear give the
best car like steering. That is, the front turns more than the rear for a fast, controlled path
through the slalom course you are racing.
I hope you like the board!
