Super-G, Hybrid & Hamburger - Now on 6/14
Moderators: Jonathan Harms, Ron Barbagallo, Maria Carrasco, Russel Cantor, Lynn Kramer, Karl Floitgraf
Thanks!
Dan thanks for pulling the event together!
Even though I crashed - I still had a good time. Hadley had a blast, she thought the tree house alone was worth the trip.
Thanks again for the hospitality (and bandages).

Real fun, thanks again for having us!
This vid is real quick and dirty, there were only a couple of hours available in the edit suite this week so I hopped on them. Mostly practice runs and there's more of the b course, but I stopped shooting and skated after a while, the best will be left to memory.

For the history books, my last run I got 27.something but took out 3 cones.
Still dead last, but CLASSY dead last!

Thanks to everyone for coming. The morning looked like a washout, then each carload brought more sunshine. The day went really well and I think everyone had fun.
The Antrim crew was great to watch. I saw Delaney and Lindsey visibly improve their technique by the end of the day and still cannot believe that Abbie has only been skating for a year now. Sorry Ryan & Rich, didn't pay as much attention to you. ;o) Dave ran with the big boys and made a great showing. I expect that that they will all be able to do their home-town race this year.
Antrim really did skateboarding right. Next they need to get the high school gym teachers onboard. Could you imagine Gym classes running cones instead of laps?
Thanks to Victoria, Delaney's Mom, for manning the barbeque, and my neighbors for putting up with the race, and especially my next-door neighbors the Barry's (who stayed to spectate & eat) who helped build the tiimer. It worked flawlessly!
Terry and daughter Hadleigh both left with scrapes and Delaney walked away without a scratch from a backwards-invert-spread-eagle head conk to skate again. I pulled a 4 wheel sketchy drift at full speed around the bend that I will remember a while, but no real carnage. That was a relief. With that hill, and the morning's weather I was worried.
A good day.
Let's do it again sometime!

Glenn - I know that is tongue in cheek, but thank you again for sending me that board in 2007. I am having the time of my life and have met so many cool people it just blows me away.Glenn Chapman wrote:Followed by Rick F (I should have never got him started, he is now kicking my a$$ every race).

What a great day, my thanks go out to Dr. Dan for steping up and making it happen. Terry W gets my vote for crash of the day award with Delaney in second. The HS was ruled by Adam S. Followed by Rick F (I should have never got him started, he is now kicking my a$$ every race). Dan's hill is fast from the top and made the GS exciting and Rick took the top honors. The Antrim crew is getting better keep it up! Delaney finished first in the womens with Abbie 2nd and Lindsey 3rd. The change in riding ability in just a few weeks is amazing, keep it up and you all will do well in the big race at Antrim. Richard was skating solid, it was good to see him mixing it up in the cones. Dave and Ryan are great competitors and have been pushing each other the last few races. Both are impriving and you will see them running in the main event at the Antrim race. Thanks again to everyone that helped out.

Right on Dave, seems like we've got some ramps and timers floating around now. Need a dual lane system eventually.Dave Kirkpatrick wrote:Hey!
That was some serious fun, well worth the drive and risk of bad weather (the only slippage we were concerned about was from the kids with water guns, and someone who spilled a coffee at the finish line!). I think ALL of my crew made a benchmark today. I sure did (got a GS time- clean! didn't die...)
I like the idea of reviving a New England outlaw race series, let's talk more about that.
THANKS Dan!
Again, really impressed with the Antrim Slalom Outlaws!

Guys, it's still wet here.
Not raining, but not sunny.
Not sure if it will dry enough, so not sure what to say about coming- Your decision.
Here's the best estimates:

I can always just fire up the barbeque...

Get some saltines. If it rains we can do the 60-second 6-saltine challenge. Eat 6 saltines in 60 seconds, then whistle, no drinking allowed.
Pissa.

. Happy to hear we've got a race.
Terry, glad the Mrs understands.
Dave, Welcome. Let me know when your race is happening.
George, Welcome back!
I'll have some food and drink. Donations are welcome.
KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED WITH THE WEATHER.
Rain Cancels. It's too fast a hill to worry about traction.

Rick, it's D.PISSA points for you.
Karl, you're welcome to use the timer, but I'm working the day of your race and will not make it. (Too many people work in this country!) You will need a currier. We'll see what Terry "works out". Maybe he'll keep it in his bachelor pad between the races. ;o)
Good luck Terry!

I hope to be able to make both the 14th and 20th events.
Dan I'll let you know by this weekend if I can make the 14th.
Karl count me in for your race also for now (but I still need to work out something with my wife because that day is our anniversary) - If you start on the early side that would work better for me.
Thanks for pulling these events together guys!

Sorry, the 14th is reserved for my daughter's birthday party.
The 6th is an available reschedule, if that's the consensus....
This past weekend I had a barbeque with my neighbor and the topic of skateboard racing came up. Well, my neighbor is an engineer who flew on the Space Shuttle (and appeared on "Survivor") and is an Ivy League professor who works on artificial intelligence and builds robots. He got interested in the project, and after two post-midnight days in his labratory, and with programing help from his doctoral candidate children, I HAVE A TIMER! (...and an inferiority complex)
This baby was built from scratch, with my 12yr old doing all the soldering for the wiring, chips and switches. It's made for single lane (I only have 2 tape switches) but we're already talking about making one for duel....

Dan's outlaw
If it's still on the 7th, I'll see if I can be there, possibly with the Twins? Dunno, have to run that by my wife or get a sitter.
If it's the week after, I'm there for sure.
Of course, we'll have watch the weather... :-0

A short hybrid course.
A a longer FASTER Super-G / Longboard run.

Yes it's an outlaw, but the neighbors are cool. (...and I'd like it to stay that way.)
Helmets mandatory. The rest of your pads that you can get your hands on - only for those who are sane!
