St. Louis Mo. 100 cone grass roots race

This hill would indeed be great for a hybrid course. We've often set it that way for practice. And although Goad wanted straight-on wigglin' for this race, I'm pretty sure he'd consider doing a more varied course in the future.
I didn't witness any acidosis in relation to this race. It was a lung burner but not a leg burner. After the first 40 cones or so, the hill did most of the work and you simply had to hang on.

Absolutely, what a great spot, the s-curve reminds me of Gran Ellen in Athens (which you compared to something at Da'Farm), it's not as steep but the asphalt in St. Louis is much better.
The atmosphere was comparable to The Gathering.
One point of constructive criticism - we, the racers, need to stay focused on being ready to take our turns, it's hard enough to run a race smoothly without having to hunt people down.

Thanks for the pics! Although all I have for a reference is your pictures, something comes to me in looking at that course. Not only is it ideal for the 100-cone inline, but would that asphalt also work for a 70 or 80 cone hybrid?
If the weather cooperated, that would make for a cool two days of racing!
Oh, one other thing. No one has mentioned it yet, but that is a 100-cone course. Did anyone collapse or suffer acidosis or any of those other horrible things predicted from extended slalom set ups?
A 100 7-foot centers plus the start and the finish makes for a course around 750 feet long. Was anyone particularly exhausted when compared to our usual 30-50 cone races?

From all the MS crew... THANKS for a GREAT weekend, i couldn't imagine anywhere i'd have rather been this memorial weekend.. We all had a wonderfull time practicing, racing, drinking, and that damn MUSEUM... WOW.. hahahah, almost got lost in that thing. Many firsts also, never seen a skatepark in a museum, never seen a bar adjacent to a skatepark in a museum, and never seen a bellydancer in a skatepark(adjacent to a bar in a museum). Big em ups to all the GO GO Goads, can't wait to get back to St.Louis..

-First off we want to thank everyone for coming out and showing your support. Also huge thanks are in order for all the coneheads, especially Carl Kincaids’ family and Paul Graff for their time and help. There are many others we could thank by name, but the list is long. Even though the race was never finished we feel that it was a great success. Getting to hang at the practice party was a blast! Having that time to get to know one another was enjoyable and set the mood for a good race day. The camaraderie in this group is unsurpassed.
We are aware of where mistakes were made and feel confident that most will be easily corrected. The next race here in St. Louis will be more productive and efficient. It was a great learning experience and we appreciated most of the advice given. It was an enjoyable time and we hope to have you all back again for the next race. We are happy to be a part of the positive growth of slalom skateboarding.
Unfortunately due to untimely weather, prizes had to be awarded by qualifying times. We finished the first round of the final 8 and as it stood the board read as follows….

Here's the deal, I plan on having some sort of a grass roots race right smack dab in the middle of the USA in St.Louis Mo. We being the St. Louis riders, ride on a medium S shaped hill that is about 20 to 25 mph fast. 100 cones is the norm for us. It's what we like to ride, and have a spot that allows us to set up to 110 cones if there set up at 6 to 8 foot centers. We have more than 100 cones and we like to use them, anything less seems to be a waste to us. Milk the hill for all it's worth is what we say. My question for all of you grass rooters out there, is 100 cones to much for a race? Meaning will you guys come out and race if we state that it will be a 100 cone hybrid dual race? We would like to race a course that we like riding. All of us are new to the sport of slalom only a few of us have even raced out side of the state. Will have timing systems and starting ramps to make it as good as possible. Looking to hear from all of you on this one.
