No sponsor-deals? We are fat and fast......happy and crappy.
Hell, we will go for T-shirts and stickers.......and maybe a beer or two.
A pick-up jet would be nice to fly us to the next comp.

Bad News, Good News

Post by Philip Bond » Mon Jun 21, 2010 12:17 pm

Managed to qualify a bit better (14th) at last weekends Cone Head Cup in Melbourne but ended up 17th. Should have done better really, it was head to head on a narrow course, so cone spray was an issue. In my 3rd round I claimed for cone spray when I should have carried on a beat my opponents ass, I had him cold and thought I could do the same in the re run, but no!!! Got beat and ended up 17th. The good news though is points make prizes and I am currently laying 12th overall in the National rankings. This has made me book flight for the next event in Canberra which is 2 rounds, ditch slalom and H2H, it may cause divorce, but as they say, "Skate or Die"!

That would be because I am slow and have no money. Nice idea though.

What's happening my Fat friends? No news on the down low for a while, how'd you go at the Worlds guys? Have a new helmet on the way from Marshall! I thought I couldn't be a Fat Bastard without one!! 3 rounds of Cone Head Cup coming up, 2 in Canberra and one in the Blue Mountains. Hoping to do a bit better, but training alone is hard. Any T shirts available yet, would love to represent you guys. Anyways skate well and enjoy.

I raced the Worlds and did really bad. 43 overall. Best position 35 in the hybrid. 0.6 to slow to qualify for the second part, and in those 0.6 there was 11 others too.
First day´s GS was a rainy one and when it finally started I was late and just barely had time to put my gear on before the starter pointed at me and away we go.......bad.
But it was a great race in Czech. Great people and very fast (and great) racers.

Saw the helmet......SUPERCOOL!!!

I can now do my own prints so I will make you one with the new logo.

Hi guys, just thought I'd write something, you must all be busy skating I guess. Our CHC has finished for another year.

Congratulations to the Series Winners
1st Hagbarth Strom, Nor/Aus
2nd Nathan Paff Aus
3rd Kurt Nischell Aus

Image

Kurt Haggy and Nathan, Series winners

I ended up 18th for the year, I aimed for top 20 so I guess that's ok. I could have skated a lot better but training and practice are boring on your own.

The last comp of the year was at Pump Station, in NSW, a semi secret spot. The course was about 900m long with a good amount of vertical drop. The course took about 60seconds to complete, although the winner on the day Jackson Shapiera recorded a sub 56second time, full 4 seconds ahead of 2nd and 3rd places, filled by Haggy Strom and Dave 'Robbo' Robertson.
I have never been so fast on my "Roadster", and it certainly focused my mind, my best and only time was 65secs.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my year traveling around Australia (12000kms) and meeting all the guys and gals. The slalom fraternity, and skaters in general are a friendly bunch and everyone helps each other out. I will do less next year but pick my favorite venues and take the family along for the ride.

I have added some pics from the year.

Looking goooooood!!!!

Roadster sounds a bit short for that kind of hill.
Try a GS and you will open a new world of fast pumping.
You can go really fast without the "I´m gonna die now"-feeling.

Sorry for the shirt-delay.......to much work and a small brain will makes me slow.
I don´t know about the weather at your place......will a hoodie be nice for the winter?
I have one from the Worlds that I can print on (...or not if you want it clean).
Is there anything special (except the FB-logo) I can put on?
My daughter was with me at the Worlds with a FB-shirt that said "engineer".
Do you want "Aussie-chapter" or do you want to be Swedish?

Great to see you in the course!!!

Robo, a Hoodie would be nice, although we are heading into our summer right now, temps 30 - 45 celcius. I like the idea of Aussie Chapter on a FB logoed item.
Should possibly have used the Pirnack at the event although there were 5 other roadsters ridden, including the winner. Longboards were also well represented. I tucked the top half of the course and then found myself going a little bit too quick. The final section caught me out, which is why i say it was at the edge of my ability. I need to practice a lot more and ride some gnarlier hills.
