2013

Post by Claude Regnier » Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:03 pm

I know for some of you it is early but can we start thinking about the Major events for next year already. It would be nice if the Major races were all (or almost) all decided by September of this year. Better High level attendance and a chance to add more sponsor $$$ to the events.

I've received some positive personal feedback regarding this thread is everyone just damn scared to push the issue or you just too lazy to try make our overall race scene better?

You guys were supposed to have announced something about Texas and their bid for next years Worlds a while back! what is the hold up or excuse now! Let's get our shit together....

Hi Claude,

We have been inviting race organizers to submit their preliminary applications for Main and Major events for next year. It's good that you're making another call.

Right now it's busy racing and holiday times, so not easy to get things coordinated, but as soon as we're into September all the final decisions for 2013 will happen. Until then better keep good contact with your national status marshals to make sure you have supplied what is needed to reserve you slot in next years calendar.

Thanks everyone for handling this process as early as possible.

/Jani

Is there a list somewhere that we can see what has been submitted so far for next season? That would go a long way into future planning. We need to be into Major potential sponsors by Sept in order for them to consider our events seriously even trying to plant seed prior. I know it is race and holiday season. This is why we need to move things ahead as suggested last year so we raise the level of the events and the racing profiles. We have an excellent mix of young and old talent and floundering around and making excuses is not the way to make the sport grow.

There would be nothing wrong with getting our calendar schedule moved up a year as it would make it easier to roll one event planning into the next! We should have races scheduled till June 2013 already. At least the 1st half moving ahead. It is no big deal if someone ends up pulling out but planning ahead is the key to our continued growth and success!

I like that Claude, we should do it even earlier. It's the same thing every "summer", once we're into the race season it's difficult to think about the next the same event this year has actually happened.
Don't know if race organizers are really ready for it though.

To know what's planned so far, we need to ask our status marshals. Except Worlds, that's settled. It'll be in Texas!

Awesome ISSA! That is simply what we need to do! Just start putting the pieces together earlier, there can always be modifications, cancellations or anything but knowing what people are thinking earlier is great for planning. I personally will be planning my summer sk8 camps for 2013 in October! Same as it has been for the last 5 years or so. This is why myself, Dan & Gabe Duquet and of course Mary-Beth can not make it the Worlds nor the Oceanside events this season.

Glad to hear Texas hosting the Worlds is a done deal! Do we have a date yet? We will be hosting an event on July 1 (around it) next year but may also add a bigger contest as well!

Guillaume glad to hear you are continuing Paris! we will try to be there!!! I want to reserve a parachute :)

we need to sweettalk the brits into hosting a main event-they should definitely do the euros next year.
hog hill is one of the most perfect places for this event.they have all the necesary infrastructure at hand plus most excellent tracks.
give sam gordon, rob ashby, and michael stride some fire.

it could be good to have 2 Main events in a row (Paris then Euro's in London) like we have Paris/Hannover few years ago.

I like that Idea Donald & Guillaume! That could be great!!! As airfares continue to climb we need to cut our costs down. I had mentioned to the crew at the Canadian Nationals this past weekend that if/when the Worlds were announced we would try to run an event the weekend before as to try and make it more feasible for European travelers. I think for us if it goes to Oct. it may be too late but we will wait for a date and see!!!!

Plans for 2013 - South Europe (France, Italy, Spain)

Post by Ricardo Damborenea » Thu Jul 12, 2012 5:10 pm

The idea this year is for those planning to hold a major/main race next year, to share it with their NC/Status Marshalls for us to have a good picture of what to expect for 2013. Also, we encourage organizers to submit applications for 2013 races ASAP, so we can process them early and organizers can go back to sponsors with sanctioned races well ahead of time.

Plans for major/main races in the South of Europe (area I oversee as Status Marshall) are so far:
- France: Paris and Grenoble
- Italy: no specific plans so far, but might hold one major/main
- Spain: no plans for major/main

Open Dutch Nationals Amsterdam Slalom Series 7 (NL)

Paris 2013 is not a Main candidate. Prime is what we're asking for.
But, unfortunate if the race would be on the same weekend as Amsterdam.

We're leaving the Main status for other French events.
Participation in Paris may also be limited to 50 skaters.

Peter, i've just added locations and disciplines

About the date, yes it's not good to have 2 events the same WE, even if it's prime & main.
I have to talk with Erika, but i'am afraid it will be difficult to change dates for paris because PSWC is part of a bigger event (including inline roller world cup), and because autorisation to make an event on the Trocadero are really a hard work.

I/we need to talk with Flavio and see if there is any possibility on his side. Having close events like Amsterdam and Paris 2 week-ends in a row would be benefit for both of us...
I will send him a PM today and talk in Mallorca

Due to the success of the 1º Mallorca Slalom Grand Prix, the AMSS will submit an application to hold the event in 2013 again.
So... I think Spain will hold a MAIN event in 2013.

I apologize for my ignorance. The Martin Luther King of the Hill race has to be Saturday January 19. I guess I was used to his birthday being earlier in the month. Sunday Jan 20 is a rain contingency day.

Hi Petr, Can you please help me out? I tried to fix the date on the calendar but my marshal tool won't let me. The 20th is listed, but that is just the contingency day. Thanks.
