Re: [2016] Moscow Slalom Race, 16-17 July [Main]
The first significant event for about last 15 years has been held last weekend in Russia.

Thirty seven participants from Russia, Europe and even USA took part in 5 different categories.
The giant discipline at the biathlon resort near the Moscow with separate courses for Am/women/junior and pro took place on the first day.
Pro, fast (but short) course like Grenoble/Geteborg:

Hybrid and tight slalom at the VDNKh, the one of the biggest Moscow parks , were scheduled for the second day.

Latvian guys took almost all podium - not only Janis :) but younger riders too. Yes, we have to train more.. =)
Many thanks to all of you, guys, for coming to Moscow - both from the West and the East!

Re: [2016] Moscow Slalom Race, 16-17 July [Main]
News:
We've determined the place where the short disciplines is going to be held: one of the biggest parks in Moscow, VDNKH.
That park is situated not far from the center of Moscow. In recent years it became modern and beautiful recreational place.
There are beach club "Marina", a lot of sport objects (http://vdnh.ru/en/sports/), oceanarium, Museum of Cosmonautics (http://www.kosmo-museum.ru/?locale=en), skate park (http://vdnh.ru/upload/sports/10_16_2015_sk_vdnh1289.jpg)
Perfect asphalt, over 500k of visitors every weekend.
The park is located near the self-titled subway station VDNKH.
The spot is almost flat, near the fountain "Stone Flower" ( https://www.google.ru/maps/@55.8323412, ... ,18z?hl=en )
Most likely short disciplines (hybrid, tight) will be held at 17 of July. Giant will be at 16 of July, we've found good hill (at another place) for giant and soon I'll post some news about it.
Path from Kremlin to VDNKH: https://metro.yandex.ru/moscow?from=10&to=87&route=0
So.. welcome :)
If you need invitation for visa - we can do it.
About hotels: unfortunately we don't have any agreement with any of them - but I believe that booking.com has some choices. For example, there is big hotel just near the VDNKh - "Cosmos" (http://goo.gl/4YPyt6)..

Re: [2016] Moscow Slalom Race, 16-17 July [Main]
Clarification about tourist visas
As I said, you can make a tourist visa at http://visardo.com/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=25
Hotel booking info has to be send to visardo along with passport info etc.
If you go for 7 days or shorter - you only need to order "Single entry - for 7 days"
If you go for longer period - you order appropriate variant of visa and as you arrive to Russia you have to registrate in our FMS (Federal Migration Service) for about 25euros. We'll help to make this registration.
Note: such visa has to be done not earlier than in 3 month before travel.

[2016] Moscow Slalom Race, 16-17 July [Main]
Hello, friends!
We all love races - speed, competition. Emotions and adrenaline that it brings. But beside all of this such events gives us the opportunity to visit new countries and places.
Last year we've made a few small competitions in Russia, with about 30-40 racers in it in total.
This year we've decided to become more open to world slalom community - and we're inviting you to MAIN event, Moscow Slalom Race!

Moscow is one of the biggest cities in the world. It counts near the nine centuries of history, most of this time being the center of culture, political, economic life of Russia. Meanwhile, city has got a huge evolution last years and have become modern capital with mature industry of entertainment.
There are a lot of different places of interest here, that's for example:
1 Kremlin and Red Square, heart of Russia, most known historical buildings
2 St. Basil’s Cathedral, orthodox christian church
3 Bolshoi Theater, one of the world oldest ballet and opera theater
4 Gorky Central Park, one of the largest Moscow parks
5 Arbat Street, the oldest street with craftsmen and artists
And a lot of exhibitions and museums, bars and clubs and so on..
Actually it's hard to describe all variety of places in one post, better to look at the specific sites like http://www.moscow.info/attractions/index.aspx or https://goo.gl/AZPCoA
Here are some nice panoramas: http://www.airpano.ru/files/Moscow-Big- ... &fov=98.44
Details about race
Date: 16-17 of July
Courses: GS one day; TS + HS, dual - another day
Starting fee: 30 euros for Pro, 25 - Am/Women, 15 - Junior
Classes: Masters, Pro, Am, Women, Junior, Boys/Girls, Kids
Registration form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1dmS7W0 ... M/viewform
We are communicating with certain park administration now to let us make the race in the park with good infrastructure and a lot of spectators.
Except that park we have guaranteed place to make the race, as well as rain-free place.

Accommodation
At this point we couldn't advise you certain hotels, because we didn't make the last decision about race place yet.
However, it's not a big problem - there are a lot of hotels/hostels at booking.com: http://goo.gl/sfYjPR
For example, double-room could be found for 40 euros per night.
The subway system has good coverage so there should not be a problem to navigate in the city.
Information about visas
To get to Russia you have to make a visa in our consulate in your country.
1. Most common way to do that - is to get "tourist" visa. For that visa you have to receive "invitation" from any russian tourist operator. For example, that's one of them: http://visardo.com/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=25
I'll try to contact with some of them to finally check the details.
2. Also - we have another possibility - we ( so called Moscow Skate Federation) could make an invitation for foreign athletes.
You send us the list of racers, I'm making official document and send it by the mail back to you.
In that case humanitarian visa can be obtained - it's free or the fee is significantly lower.
You have to give me this info: coach/racer; first, last name; sex; citizenship; birthdate; № passport; period of passport validity; the dates of the trip.
In both cases it is recommended to put to consulate hotel and plane booking documents.
