I will be talking to Alain Esnault today. I was on vacation until now. He's in charge of the administrational work for the Paris race. He doesn't speak English though, so I think you better go through me. You can also talk to Pierre-Yves Ritschard, the president of Riderz. You'll find his contact information in his profile here at the forum.

I think the only chance to move the Paris race is if there another reason:
- something else happening at the Trocadero that day
- some other good reason for the Paris crew to target another date

I know Alain doesn't want the event in the autumn and if so it would cause a conflict with the Antibes event.

I sincerely hope you can find another weekend where you can get a crowd to your contest site. I'm very much looking forward to next year in Hannover.

i'll do my race in july not in may,maybe august will be cool too
but that has yet to be determined.
brixlegg also hosts some other events such as etnies bowlmasters,also the vert-pros which will come to the death race need to have an open slot for this event too.
i'll be off for a few days next week when i spend my holidays in brixlegg and skate the cradle each day.everything i want to do will be discussed with the mayor and the skatepark guys then.

i think i have to increase the prize money to 10K to make it worth a trip.

this will be heavy competition for each and everybody to follow then
the design for the homepage looks awesome too,wait tillit pops up in the net.

you,especially you,have to be fast next year,i hope you're up to it,dieter pieter(you have to many aliases,that's suspicious..

the gs course will make corky's turtle shell pay off in the end.[/b]

Well, like I can shut up for any period of time, but I do have something to say. I couldn’t make it to Hannover sadly do to injury, but I’ll be there next year. On status, well I have my opinion but ISSA sets the status, however I think it would be great if we could spread em out a little so we get a race every month. The Americans gets a early start and then enjoy races almost all year. We (Europeans) have some contest with a few years history and some new ones. All I’ve been to deserve MAIN status but only 4 gets it, well 3 and then 1 MAJOR. The thing is, some has a history of when it’s on, like Paris, Gruningen and Antibes. We should respect them and try to put ours somewhere else during the year, to extend the racing session.
We have:
Paris May early June.
Gruningen middle June.
Antibes in early September.

We in Sweden can put it on whenever, we just try to fill a empty space, we will not be asking for a main, we think RIGA should get MAIN status next year and have the race in mid July.

So, April, August and October has no races.

Next year we know following city’s want to put on races. I’ll just call it like I personally like to see it, it has nothing to do with ISSA or what’s actually going too happened.

To have Main/Major status it should be an requirement to have a Prize purse of at least 2.500 Euro. We should all try to help to make a Euro tour cup. A tour with a Major umbrella sponsor.

Two contests at one weekend isn´t possible. That is a fact. One contest must change the date otherwise both contests loose!!!
Spectators are nice but what should they see in Hannover when the whole world is racing in Paris at the same weekend. Sorry too say but Paris has a history and was allways the biggest contest in europe the last years...

I would support Hannover but what is Sweden, Swiss and the USA going too??????

I wrote this in a provocative manner to get the discussion on fire.
After participating in the world of european slalom competitions for nearly one year I will choose my participations in contests very carefully next year by what I observed this year.

Paris and Hannover were some of my favorites and I would love to go to both of them next year.

Both contests called themselves "World Cup". Therefore a certain public presentation and spectators are a must. Hannover will only work if there is the side-effect of the big party. Otherwise it will be as dead as Grueningen (which was called a "World Cup" too!) in terms of spectators. I've seen a lot of potential in Hannover which wasn't really been used because of the circumstances (unknown, first contest ever, bad weather).

Rivalry between contests does exist and is healthy. Soon we will discuss again about the status of any contest next year.

Paris is on the "Pentecote week end" (it's the same for 3 years now), and it will be hard to change now

(Steve even if there's no use to compare the events, I woudn't be so categoric about spectators...)

uhhmm yes,steve,you are right on that.
but we shouldn't be misunderstood on that what you posted.
you and me,we dont want to create any rivalry,but its necessary to state the facts.
sad to say,many people didn't recognize how good hannover really was,plus dete was a bit too low-key for my taste.
he did so good,he deserves waymore recognition and acceptance by the riders,especially those who missed that great event.

I think next year You can count on all German slalomers, because Your first World Cup this year was simply GREAT!
Hannover is situated between the 2 strongest slalom-cities in Germany: Cologne and Berlin. What a showdown for another battle!

Btw: The weather will be better next year.

Great race in Hannover
Detlef and his crew rock! Thanks you all to make this event happens.
The only things one could complain about were the wind and rain.
I was a bit disappointed, (as most racers I suppose) that we couldn't try this nice giant road and its big start ramp.
Next year I hope to see all of you there again

And we'll try to bring pool boards, this pool is the nicest I've ever seen.. (France is poor about this kind of things)

Wow, but is it fair to let the so fast Nastasja race with guys ?

Germany is for sure the new interesting Slalom scene
Two dangerous pros now : Chris Bauman and Heiko
with lot of people pushing behind: the Koln crew, Pape Brats and the Berlin crew and much more
and don't forget manufacturers and their strong R&D (this week end I could try a new Pavel prototype, even if I wasn't used to it works! Thanks Donald)

The women were racing together with the men upon request (from the ladies).

Special, Open
(Pro cancelled)

Christophe Baumann is my new hero! He's just getting faster and faster. He's been gaingin places over the last two years, without getting much attention. All of a sudden he qualifies first and then takes out Steve Hinzen, Maurus Strobel and finally Ramon Königshausen to win the whole race. That's pretty cool!

Maurus was really fast, but hit too many cones (again).
Ramon is consistently fast, but now has to wait another race to claim the top spot.
Chris Hart is always right in there. This time winning the garage slalom.
Paul Price couldn't repeat his success story from Paris. Maurus wanted the third place more.

Nastasja Wolfenberger - the fastest woman this weekend.

Heiko Schöller completely dominated the open class and has now announced he'll go Pro in the next race (Already in Gruningen!).

Vincent Berruchon (3rd, 3rd, 2nd), Alexis Lieber (2nd, 2nd, 3rd) will be eager to take his place, but to get there they will have to fight: Max Möhlmann, Peter Darius, Oliver Otten, Frank Beste, Sam Gordon and a few more. And they will have to ensure that the ladies return to their womens category. Note that Nastasja qualified third in the Open class...

Too bad we never got to race the giant slalom. It looked really nice. Not so steep, but really sweet!

Many thanks to Detlef and his whole crew for putting on this race!
I will join previous speakers and say that this event truly has great potential. Despite the rain everybody enjoyed the weekend and left longing to come back next year.

Big crowd of spectators, nice courses (*rolleyes*), quite well organized (the weather made it hard...), fair pavement on the whole area (90A Avalons just ruled!), hotel included....and so on

well done detlef, although the weather was quite bad!

Ok the weather wasn´t the best but everything all was perfect organised and we all had a lot of fun. Great races, nices prices, good parking, perfect timing system, good cone judges, parking directly at the cource, cash for all Top 3 Riders, Saturday good Skatesession at the local Skatehall and Pool...I´m totally tired today but I smile when I think about the nice weekend. Good work Detlef!!!!

well run well organized-could be one of the biggest venues pretty soon.
the potential is absolutely there.

The friday training sessions were epic with sun and perfect conditions. Too bad it couldn´t stay that way for the whole weekend.
The location was perfect with lots of cheering spectators who came to visit the expo summer festival (especially on sunny Friday).

It was a great weekend even if the weather really made it hard to have too much fun in the race. (heavy wind gusts made the qualifications a real gambling game and I was lucky enough to ride one good qual. time.)

After the rain really started on Saturday some of us drove to the indoor skatepark to have some runs in the indoor bowl. Wolfgangster Toth showed us some great oververt carving and Chris Hart that he can ride more than just slalom (very nice corner 50/50s), Maurus did his very first drop-in (It takes guts to do that in a not-so-shallow bowl - congratulations! Now you want more, eh?).

Sunday was windy and rainy so around noon my sis and me decided to leave so I could have some quality time with my son in the afternoon.

Thanks Detlef for organizing this contest - next year we´ll have more luck with the weather.
I would be there again for sure.

I just had a talk with Jani. It was a rainy weekend in Hanover (as in most of all Europe). It seems like the rain want to give us slalomers a match this year again. After all they managed to run two disciplines and the biggest surprise of the weekend was that Christoph Baumann, Germany, was running really good under the German weather conditions. He won the tight slalom before names like Chris Hart, Maurus Strobel and Ramón Königshausen. Jani himself finally decided to enter the contest. He desperatly needs some practice before the European Championships. Hopefully we will see some result lists and more stories soon. And no, it wasn't Christoph who laid the course. It was Ramón.

Sorry, but we have problems with our website, because we changed the provider. Don't worry if you can't find your name on the online registration.
You can register on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Everything is working good. Does anybody knosw if the Latvian skaters will show up in Hannover?

Sorry to hear of your mishaps....may you heal quickly...time does heal injuries...good luck with your race, Detlef...I was an exchange student for a couple weeks in Gottingen back in the late70s, and I visited Hanover...very nice place!

Good healing Mr. Klang. We had a broken arm too yesterday. Andre broke his in two places skating the vertramp. Pad didn´t help, but probably prevented him from more harm. Skate safe guys.

Well, I got my punishment last saturday at the pool downtown Stockholm.
I spent nine hours at the E.R to recive the news, I had broken my arm and had a different bone broken the last 20 years. I guess Hannover is off and Gruningen as well.

Hopefully I´m back on board in time for the Euros. Hope the best for all of you and skate safe, user pads.
