Ramps??
They are big, bulky, and have to be hauled about.
I say burn them.
They would make excellent firewood for the Vermont campers. You should bring them for that.
Don't get me wrong. I love those damn things and have more than a little blood, sweat and beers into them, but,...
Burn them nonetheless.
Unlimited push I say.
WHose with me?!?!?! "NO MORE RAMPS! NO MORE RAMPS! NO MORE RAMPS"
BUUUURRRRRRNNNN THEEEEEEEEEMMMMMM!!!!

Let's not. Let's focus on have 2 GOOD courses, a TS, Hybrid and/or GS. I'll gladly set a TS if no one else wants too. I'll even offer to set it as a dual TS (there is enough room)...if the ramps do show then all the better. Though having an outlaw race with ramps is iffy and I assume we will still have to allow traffic by...which makes a dual TS a touch difficult.Adam Daniels wrote:i would be scared to see what people could do with ramps on a slope like that of Ball Mountain. whip out the flywheels or the avilas...that gives me an idea.
lets have a Downhill race at the event
Ball Mtn is large enough that those who want to do a on the side DH race could, I'm sure PSR would be stoked.... but assuming 55+ people will show getting TWO good races in will be tough.

that would be cool except that there is no way to safely make that turn without slowing down....if there was to be a Dh race the finish line should be atleast 100ft before the turn.Leonardo Ojeda wrote:DH race, from top of the hill to the cul de sac, or is it too dangerous?
and BTW-thanks for filming me for my dad at the last Ball Mountain race

exactly. i put 100ft because looking at the hill i say that i would easily reach 30-35 mph if not higher and from that speed it takes a lil while to slow down.Leonardo Ojeda wrote:Well, the finish line should be placed where ppl can have enough time to airbrake, foot drag or slide.
how was the vid?
the video was great, and after watching it i released how SLOW i really was that day. at this next race i expect to see a big improvement. any chance of doing that course again? prolly not but i am trying here

Just making sure my teammate is on his toes. I have updated the list.
It is interesting to note that there have been more than 50 racers competing in this series.
Slalom is alive and growing on the East side.

Thank you Tway. Fatboy would have been relentless all weekend telling everyone he had more points than me. There might have been a team mutiny.

Ramps are hair extensions for those who don't have patience to grow long hair.
Learn to skate- you won't need a ramp.

Jani,
I just got the access code today and will post it up tomorrow. I have been in touch with Corky who has been ranking a few of our events. All I can say is a lot of the kids who are participating in this series are super stoked to see their names listed in the world rankings. Corky's work has gone a long way to better the sport of slalom and it has not gone unnoticed over here. Hope to see you at the farm next year.

I used to appreciate ramps-...when I was in a wheelchair.
The only reason you know Jani and Tway didn't vote is because you have cast the only vote for ramps.

oops I guess taht was the wrong Terry.
Anyhow- the if we had some sort of adjustable ramp that would be cool.
Some places really could use ramps....tall ramps- like Paris. Paris -Where a push start would make the courses too short. Hell- It would be great if there was a giant ramp at the end of Paris to absorb all the speed so the course could be the whole length of the trocadero.
But if a course doesn't require a ramp....why bother.
If youa re racing flatland....the taller the ramp....the better. Nice to get at least 20-25mph right off a ramp there.
Problem is- after a few turns and offsets...you've lost speed and you are back to running a race with finishing speeds around 15mph.

how tight of a tight slalom are we looking at?
just wondering because today i finally managed to get through 5.5ft spacing at a decent speed.....no timing system so i judged if the runs were faster but zooming onto the grass and seeing how far i could go
and BTW: these split ds 90's kick butt in the front!

Quick Update
Outlaw Farmers,
I spoke to PSR a few weeks ago and he said the Rangers were "stoked" we want to return to the dam. However the park hours have changed and I believe Eric told me it now closes at 3pm. This will only affect our Saturday race. We may have to change the time BUT he is trying to get an extension for us slalomboarders so there is a slight chance we will have the park to ourselves Saturday afternoon. The Sunday race will commence at 10am.
Sat. expect a hybrid similar to the last race at the dam. On Sunday...expect a bit tighter course with a lot of 6 footers.
More soon.

Ok Farmers the race is getting close so it's time to get your sh*t together and make your camping reservations. All the spots I listed on the Contest Calendar are gone but they were primarily for RV's. There are plenty of rustic sites available. Noah, Ohm and I just reserved Site S45. S35-S44 are still available so get on it and make your reservation ASAP. You must pay for 2 nights but the good news it's only $16 per day per site divided by 4 is a deal. It will be far more fun if we all hang together so we don't keep all the older folks awake all night with our campfire songs. You do have to register on the web site in order to make your res. but it only takes a minute.
Book It.

Saltboy,
You know how sad we all are that you will not be there. Please don't tell Rich, Mig, Danni, and Julie, but the only reason we invited them is because we thought you would come too. What are we gonna do now?
I don't know when we'll see you, but I hope it is soon. I read about your accident. Glad you are alive.

EH!
As long as Fuel and staffing doesn't get in the way we will arrive on Friday.
PSR check your private message, please.
We found a cottage that sleep around 10 if anyone wants to share. It may fit more we are not sure yet. We will inquire further. Lees then 5 miles from the race site.
Contact us he at OSP -

catamarang slalom
No catamaranging isn't just for chicks.
Any takers on cat slalom?
seriously- is that place wide enough for catamerang slalom?
I think it would be a fun event. and it is all about fun isn't it.

And by the way, you didn't invite us... we're barging this one! You better start learning more french, "Fromaaaaaage!" won't be enough from now on. Next weekend is the start of the New England's Kabecker Invasion!

I loved the last Dam race, only one thing bothered me, the crappy start box so close to the course with a 2 push limit. Why? Let's move that puppy up the hill and unlimited push! HIT THE COURSE WITH SPEED! We were barely moving on the top of the course in June.

Hopefully Tway will post soon about our permission to stay on the hill past three, but as of right now we are off the hill by 3. I'd suggest we start the race at 11-12 with an hour of practice prior to that.
MY UNINFORMED OPINION only. Maybe PSR or Tway will have more infor soon. Just wanted to let our friends with long rides know they should plan to get started on their drive early.
Except for the Frenchies. They should feel free to take their time.
