I just wanted to say thanks to Derek for everything he did to make this event happen. The post race burgers and dogs were great. I missed the morning time trails through the hybrid section. Derek used these times to set up the heats for the head to head BX race in the afternoon. I loved the BX style of the race it had a fun dual hybrid set at the top, a roundabout turn and cardboard tunnel at about the half way point (thanks Dan, great idea)and a SGS drafting section at the bottom. A few racers made some sick come from behind drafting pass at the bottom. After the actual race there was about an hour of call out racing on the BX course and then there was an informal 6-8 man downhill session that was out of control, with all of the riders hitting the roundabout corner at about the same time. I also wanted to thank Terry and Dan for helping out all day long.

I wanted to say one more thing to Derek, the next time we race "you are going down"

I hope everyone has a great winter see you all in the spring,

Guys, Glenn and I set the course this past weekend (calm down, my times won't count) and I have the skinned knees and hands to prove it. Wear your pads, sliding gloves are strongly encouraged to navigate one particular turn. I'll be hosting an impromptu bbq/skate jam back at the house for those interested. I'm about 30 minutes from the race site. We can easily set a tight on my driveway for those who didn't get enough. The driveway is lit and will hold 35 cones easy. I know all of you guys at this point, anyone's welcome to crash in the basement room at least or find some floorspace. I'll be hoping for a big "I like!" from you after the race JG. I'll be at Magnolia a little before 9 if anyone wants to chalk. Farmageddon is near!!!

I hate when they use the abreviated title on movie marquis,,, so darn lazy.

TK is a relative to Boltok, Borat's father. He is a big fan.

We should expand our horizons away from banal athletics with this extravagant cultural doccumentary. such a retrospective of America as seen through fresh eyes..

When traveling through Virginia, we spoke with a lady who sad Borat came to a rodeo at the Salem Civic Center and for that reason the town fathers decided not to show the movie there. Likely they are afraid their kids would defect to Kazakhstan for a more wholesome life, free of the technology and mind numbing video games.

The hobbies there are more simple.

Well Karl, I think we were thinking of something wilder than that. We could do 2 narrow chutes at one spot- cones channels on a curve- but make it close enough to mess with an opponent..... or cone chutes that converge to one wide one and then diverge back to two narrow ones.

Sick ALSO would put in something that is impossible to make unless both people did a technical slide or foot drag.

Ok, it looks like I will be making it to the race and I have an idea to float.
Here goes...

I've just about finished my move from NYC to here in the sticks, and I have A LOT of cardboard boxes. In keeping with the "Mad Max" vibe of the race, how about some more substantial obstacles? I was thinking rather than just a "cross" between some cones we could create a "chute" between the upper and lower set of cones. It would force some close quarter racing. Maybe make some cardboard "bridges" to tuck under too.

I'm not an orthopedist, and I'm NOT trying to drum up business,
But what do you guys think?

Alright, the 11th it is.

Karl, thanks man, but I have a table, pen, and paper. Glenn has a timer and originally discovered Magnolia. Looks like Farmageddon is all planned!

Dragging ramps to Magnolia is tough, but I think I have a few ideas. BX at Magnolia would be more of a hybrid to tuck around the corner (squeeze between a few cones while punching opponent) to more hybrid in the end. Timers will be unnecessary in most races I believe, opening up course length possibilities. Qualifying can be done on a portion of the course. Prior viewing of Thrashin' is a must. All of this depends upon the gate being closed, which it should be.

Terry, greatest race name ever. As far as a Rye race is concerned, I'd prefer to do that in the winter, hopefully on a night with 2 feet of snow falling. On Sunday i'd love to skate some park with you and anyone else though, Newburyport or Rye. If interested on Saturday evening/night or Sunday we could also do some of this foolishness below. I have 2 other bank ramps 8' by 1.5' to throw in there too. The whole driveway is lit for nightmare bank ts and can easily accomodate 35 cones.

So if the Rumble happens, it will be the finale (or Farmaggedon)! How about a Saturday night Deathrace at the Airfield too? BX sounds great! I've got 75 cones I can bring if you want to do some gigantic course or dual "x" cross overs, etc.
12th is better for me.

The Arboretum does rule, but unfortunately I have to keep it all to myself. The Arboretum is owned by Harvard University but policed by the Boston park rangers- the result is no one really is in charge. I've actually been told by park rangers that "your technically not even allowed to throw a frisbee in here, it's a nature preserve". It's a total outlaw spot which works well for 8 people. If I put something on NCDSA we'll get 40 people and there's not nearly enough parking and we'll get kicked out now that were in the foilage season.

I'm going to call Derek and help organize the race in Magnolia. I already held my own race this year.

I would definatly be down for this race. I may even have a couple friends that I have gotten into slalom coming. going up on banks sounds like it could be sick, jut the other day I decided to go to the park, now im not a good park rider at all but I brought a slalom board and was doing big carves up the quarter pipe. Also send me a message or something if you are going to be skating at magnolia, I would definatly be up for it

Paul - sounds like you have some nice spots. I'd love to run a GS as we haven't had too many to skate this year. I like the spot you mentioned with a concrete park 20 minutes away. Either way, I'd probably make it up to Maine to skate in a race of yours!

Hey Derek,

The boardercross idea sounds interesting and I could actually make this one.

Joe was talking about a late fall mini-series (2-3 races). I would like to host a race here in Maine. I'm available anytime after the Oct. 16 tax deadline.

I have a couple of locations. The first location is Scarborough High School which is an outlaw location. But on a Sunday I don't believe it would be too busy. It's located just south of Portland on Route 1 and was just paved this spring (so no winter kill yet). Two decent hills one for hybrid/ts and one for GS. The GS hill is really interesting and with enough speed through the s-turns you can pump the 150yards plus yards of flat section to the end. You turn around and the school is sitting way up on the hill almost a half mile away. The actual race course would be much shorter, but it is fun to skate the entire length of the road without ever touching the asphalt.

The second location is Gray, ME 20min north of Portland and 20min south of the new Lewiston, ME concrete park. They are building a by-pass road for trucks, which is due to open in Jan. 2007. This is still an outlaw race, but since the road is closed it should not be a problem.

Brian, I do have (2) 8' x 2' quarterpipes in my basement I use as a miniramp which I could probably bring, will have to do some experimentation first. I was thinking more along the lines of hybrid down the big hill emptying into a tuck section, then around the bend another hybrid. We used to run one set of cones in the last section, first one to it wins, but that was a tad dangerous (and fun.) I'll start figuring it out now, plenty of time to build maybe another large bank. We shall see. Either way it will be fun.
