clean the opening
Make sure you clean the inside of hte hanger before applying locktite. If you do it outside you can use common starter fluid. too flammable to do inside.
It will give the locktite a better bond to the hanger.

nut removal
Donald is spot on with his recommendation. Double nut the hanger side of the axle, remove the nylon lock nut that is stuck on the wheel side of the axle, then double nut the wheel side of the axle to remove the double nuts on the hanger side of the axle. Reinstall the axle into the hanger with lock tite. With the double nuts still on the wheel side threads, and tighten the axle into it's socket on the hanger.
Sounds a lot harder than it is. Takes about five minutes.
Or send the hanger and axle to me and I'll fix it, polish the hanger, axles, etc, and ship it back to you free of charge.

Stuck axle nut, and axle unthreads from hanger
When I try to unthread one of the axle nuts off my splitfire, the entire axle unthreads from the hanger instead. I can't get the nut off - maybe if I had access to a vise I would be able to grip the axle hard enough to unthread the stuck nut, but I don't have a vise (plenty of vices though).
Any ideas?
