We used the timer at the Pumpstation, with 1000 feet of telephone cord attached to both the start and the finish. We never had a problem.
The thing that is most impressive about this timer is the price. We have made a few timers that are more functional (beeps, DQ, Dual Lane) but the box and LCD display cost almost as much as the whole BTS timer.
Good job not only creating a product, but creating one people can afford.

Dope it is Haggy! [Hey, my favorite surf spot is Haggs]
Greg, we didn't use the split because the course was too short to comfortably give enough operator time. I'm looking forward to using it on the next long GS race.
===Other observations:
--The switches being live at all times was a non-issue. I don't recall a single instance of a switch being hit inadvertently during a run.
--The audible blip when a switch was run over was very helpful.
--The extremely simple operation made it so I could just hand the timer off after the test runs and never had to look back.
--Lynn Kramer helped me troubleshoot my problematic wiring and got a close look at the timer too. She liked the 1.5 second post-action delay and seemed to be generally impressed by the simplicity and clarity of the device.
--I LOVE being able to use RJ12's, which allow more connection options than the RJ6's on my Trakmate.
--I dug the little touches, like the double sided sticky to hold the battery in place.
-----------------------------
I'm a BTS convert. Thanks again for the great little timer. I see many more single lane races ahead with this puppy. I'm also really looking forward to the upcoming developments.
You the man Greg!

Hey there Greg. I hope all is well and you're getting your fill of rolling. Life continues to be good Stateside. I never heard back about the timers you were building. No sweat, I know how it gets. I went ahead and bought a used Trakmate from SixtySix. It works great. If/when you start selling timers again I'm still interested. Cheers from the Sepps.

Greg, I want to buy one of these from you. I'm assuming that for PayPal I should use the email address listed above. I already have tape switches. I'm also assuming the package will include directions on which wires in the (4 - 6?) conductor cable I should be connecting my tape switches to. Can't wait to get one. Thanks, Steve

The timer is great for single lane racing and you can have 2 split times also.
The laser i have finished and works great but i just want to do a little more testing on it.
Radio control im still working on and should have it done in a couple of weeks and should br pretty reliable.
