This is the advanced formula used for deciding what age you have in the World Ranking

Age = Current year – Birth year

Ex: 44 = 2007 - 1963. Damn!

So by the looks of it, it will be 6 more months before I will have it all up and running. Unless any other motivation strucks me before.

Or... if I get some help collecting event results and keeping the ranking event calendar up to date. That could work too.

I recently realized I now qualify in the Master category. I turned 45 on March 20:th!


I hope more people can have their birthdates/years updated and that Corky will do his work on this ranking category as well. Right now it's not really correct and he's not going back so much in time (2006-2007 only). He told me he never really spent much time making sure it was correct, but he'll have a look at it when updating the ranking next time.
And, rest assured Martin, he noted your request on a little piece of paper. You may soon become a Pro!

Hi PSR,
No your boy didn't get to me too bad...I beat him didn't I! Didn't that get to him if I remember rightly?
Anyway, I'm just asking to be included in that points list AS WELL AS the normal Pro ranking. I will be racing in the normal Pro events and would like my points put in both (I think that is how it works). I also turned 47 last month, so I was a Master when I won Worlds!
I am looking forward to the next few years of racing and I figure on carrying on for a while at the upper level as my knowledge and skills are at their highest and I'm fitter than most people half my age. I feel strong and fast.
I figure I have nothing to lose as I will be the underdog, just the same as when I heard everyone writing me off as I walked back up the hill after that first run against Schwipp when I was 1.5 or so down...
So as you guys like to say...."BRING IT!"

I know the old clock is ticking, my bones are gettin' stiffer too, but don't Sandbag it until you're 46 or so. C'mon, you gotta look at guys like Cliff Coleman, or Claude for inspiration here! Beside, dude, you're still pretty buff (not no CMC, but, not Italian,either). It's a mind game, one your brain plays on your body as it trys to recall what happened 20 minutes ago. Go Skate! Your body will inform the rest of you that things are fine, and your butt still looks fast when riding a board!

BTW, i'll join the 'old farts' league, at least in time spent orbiting the sun, in a mere 3 years. Whatever. Give me a hill, a board, and get outa my way...

Well that is not a bad idea having a PRO and an AM class for men 45+ also.

OPEN classes will depend of racers status as PRO or AM just like it works right now.

Ok, back to the code and some more programming.

I had hoped to be able to treat the Men Master Class as one single class but dividing them will solve my problems.

...until the Master start to compete all in one class I guess we have to have a Master Pro and a Master Am class. And a Masters Women. That's not too bad, and probably not too hard to calculate & program.

Ideally everybody in Master category is treated as one group. How that actually is achieved is harder to tell.

Only issue for Masters ranking is that for a PRO/AM event only AM results count for the Masters ranking automatically. I.e. if you compete in a pro discipline and is over 45 your results does not count towards the masters ranking. This can be resolved by having a special Masters division class on the side where all 45 and over can compete weather they are in the pro, am or women class.

Or is there any other way to deal with this PRO/AM "Masters" issue?

Steve I agree 100%. It's great to be able to sk8 eith the best.

I've been pushing for a Masters since 2002. This past year I had 3 practice days outside of competition venues. Pain had seemingly gone away in July at Colorado then came back in Stockholm.

Not being able to practice takes the sharpness and accuracy away therefore the cones are killers. Practice makes perfect but perfect practice is the key.

I would almost like to show up at events and focus on Coaching those that need help more. Although for next year I'm going after all of you.

I don't think being in the masters will change Pro or Open...I think it would be cool if the top 4 men and women...can run off for a Masters title. I'm collecting dates and names for the World Ranking system.

Martin you did great by the way. Thanks for the nice words. It's nice to know that at almost 46 I can still give Lynn a run for her money. Your final runs were amazing under pressure. Hello to Trish I'm looking forward to meeting her in the future at races. We need more women.

Starting today I will be helping Hans with his slalom rankings for the US masters category to start in 2006. I need real names and complete birth dates. It's never too late to start. Who knows maybe one day we will even have a grand masters category. At the rate we are all still skating you never know.

You can either post them here on the Wanted: Masters section or email me direct. There are many younger skaters birth dates missing as well so if you see your birth date missing on the rankings please send them in.
