I need thrust and traction, i.e. a GOG rear truck.
Will you release a new batch of rear trucks for this spring/summer Donald, please

Or is GOG rear trucks only for sponsored Pros?

I'd say that you won't be able to tell the difference once they are tuned in. However you will have lots of added/builtin functionality for "free" in a GOG, not only that you can adjust the angle of the kingpin/hanger. I'd say its a pretty easy choice - GOG.

Get the front first, that way you can practice more fun courses and once you get up to speed and need the extra traction in the rear you have had time to save money to get it.

Wow, thanks for some extensive answers, much to consider here.
Im fortunate enough to skate with riders who already have all their gear, i.e. I can try their stuff out before I buy one or other kind of truck.

Just a thought, why not get the front first. There seems to me to be no point having the thrust and traction if you can't get round the course in the first place! I would say get the front first!
Having used a Racetrack then tried someones board with a front Radikal (and RTS rear), I started making a course I couldn't before!
I would prefer a GOG myself, as good as the Radikal bushings may be,changing the bushings instead of giving a couple of quick turns with a skate key, makes no sense to me.
Eric - you probably have more experience than me, you certainly seem to give out enough advice on the forums!

Carl, your REAR truck matters even MORE than the front, in that it's your basis for Thrust and Traction. That said, several 'front' trucks can be 'detuned' with LOTS of 'negative wedging' to give a rear-truck-type of stablility. Not the best way to work it out, but it's possible.
A front truck should add agility and nimbleness with the 'preferred' amount of stability (just barely stable enough to handle the speed you get in the course), but traction isn't a defining feature, though it Always Helps!
A rear truck has to do these things; Lean enough to let the front-end steer; Provide Traction (IE: 8mm Axles, solid geometry,stable bushings); Provide thrust (this is nullified often by sub-8mm axles) by way of predictable geometry and bushing choice and/or wedging.
So, a rear can matter considerably more to your performance than a front truck. Few rear trucks can be made 'nimble' enough to act as front truck, and while it is Difficult to do well, many 'front' trucks can sub as rear trucks.
Which should you get? A Rear first IMHO. Then get yourself the 'nimble' front later. OR, you can get a 'dual purpose' front truck, and use it as you like until you NEED a dedicated rear truck.
Which is better, Radkal or GOG? I'd say the GOG has a few features that give it a slight edge, although the bushings from Radikal are superlative and Very tunable. Both trucks have great build quality, worthy of the pricing.
GOG probably will have too few rear trucks about currently (though that'll change!), and Radikal has just recently simplified and strengthened their rear trucks I'd add Airflows in there as a great alternative, certainly in regards to value. The GOG rear is (almost) unique in that it can CHANGE GEOMETRY (Early PVD's had this feature too;Unobtainium now), so that the amount of lean,steering, and somewhat, thrust, can be adjusted Without using WEDGES. Certainly this feature is unequalled in adding versatility to the truck, but might lead to 'slop' or wear during the life of the truck. Still it's worth looking into, provided you can find them to try out.

On the webpage for concrete wave there are only front trucks for sale. Are there no GOG rear trucks or are there just none for sale right now? And does it matter all that much what rear truck one has on a board?

Well, they have certain similarities such as the geometry but they are also different in a couple of aspects.

- GOGs come with an adjustable baseplate.
- You can take the hanger off the baseplate without unscrewing the kingpin.
- The bushing seat is totally even which provides controlled, "linear" steering.
- Standard size is 100mm.
- Axle diameter is 8mm, precision.
- You can adjust the axle length by simply adding speedrings or spacers (starts at 90mm resp. 100mm).
- You will be able to choose between two fronts that have different geometry but use the same, adjustable baseplate.
- No "Truckbite"
- Made in Germany

Thanks Heiko, just recieved the GOG truck great service, been out racing for an hour and I love it.
